The Stax Music Academy has made the decision to suspend our Summer Music Experience (SME), a program that normally takes place during the month of June and culminates in our Summer Music Experience Grand Finale at Levitt Shell, which has also been postponed until further notice.
While some organizations are phasing in reopening at various levels, we feel it’s in the best health and safety interest of our students, families, faculty, workshop hosts, and other SME participants to remain physically closed at this time and continue with the virtual music education we’ve been providing since closing our building on March 13th due to the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic.
At the moment, we are working with numerous organizations, arts groups, and other music education programs to make the most careful and informed decisions possible about reopening and moving forward. Part of these conversations includes considering offering some type of onsite programming for a limited number of students later this summer and we will keep you posted on that. We suggest hat you follow us on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram and visit this website often to keep up with our most immediate updates.
Thank you and we hope everyone continues to do what it takes to stay safe.
