Join us for an exciting Opera Memphis Masterclass at The Stax Music Academy Monday, November 13, 5:30 – 6:30. This masterclass promises to be a dynamic and educational experience, featuring two exceptional special guests from Opera Memphis, Shelbi Sellers and Kathryn Elliot, who will teach participants body awareness and choral technique. This event is FREE and open to all 6th-12th grade students.

Overall Goal for the Event:

The primary aim of this workshop is to enhance participants’ body awareness and choral technique.

Specific Objectives for the Event:

  • Explore body flow, body staking, and posture breath.
  • Develop choral balance and blend.
  • Hone vocal technique, including breathing, resonance, vowel placement, and expression.

Kathryn Elliott, Director of Education at Opera Memphis

Shelbi Sellers, Director of Partnerships at Opera Memphis

Shelbi Sellers is a versatile artist with a background in singing, acting, dancing, and choreography. She studied at the University of Memphis and has worked with renowned companies like Playhouse on the Square, Theatre Memphis, and Desoto Family Theatre.
