About the Teaching Artist
Paul McKinney currently serves as the Director of Student Success and Alumni Relations at Stax Music Academy, where he has dedicated years to mentoring young musicians and guiding alumni toward success in the music and entertainment industry. A lifelong musician, McKinney began playing drums at age 3 and later mastered trumpet, earning statewide recognition as a top high school player. He holds degrees in Music Education, Recording Industry Management, and Jazz Performance, and has performed with legendary artists including B.B. King, Al Green, and Bobby “Blue” Bland.
With his deep experience as a performer and educator, McKinney brings invaluable insight into the artistry, professionalism, and technical skill required to excel as a horn player in today’s music world.
