Registration is now open for the 2026-2027 school year at Stax Music Academy! Youth in grades 5-12 are invited to join our award-winning after-school music program, where they receive professional instruction and explore every aspect of the music industry, including:
- Instrumental & Vocal Performance
- Music Business
- Composition & Songwriting
- Music Technology & Production
- Music Theory
- Film, Marketing, Branding, & more!
Interested students are encouraged to audition on the date below:

- 4:30 – 6:30 PM

Calling All Students with an Interest in MUSIC!
If you are a teacher, parent, grandparent, aunt, uncle, family friend, counselor, or other adult, we could use your help.
Is your young person involved in band or choir at school or church? Does he or she write songs or create original music? Does your student, child, teen, tween, nephew, niece, grandchild want to be around other young artists, musicians, creatives, singers, songwriters, and engineers?
The Stax Music Academy might just be the place for them.
We are currently scheduling applications and auditions for our 2026-2027 academy year After School Program, which features vocal and instrumental training, music theory, songwriting, music business, choreography, production and sound engineering, videography, and more.
SMA also offers creative youth development programming, professional mental wellness counseling, college preparedness training, and alumni support to ensure we produce not only great musicians, but also inspired youth whose academic, cognitive, performance, college readiness, and leadership skills are greatly enhanced by the program.
Through the Soulsville Foundation’s fundraising efforts, scholarships and deeply discounted tuition rates are available to those who qualify.
The Stax Music Academy performance ensemble audition process is a 2-song performance evaluation, music theory assessment, and interview. Potential production students deliver an MP3 of original material and take the music theory assessment and interview.
Stax 101 students are not required to audition.
